Does the Robotow fit?

The Robotow is not built for taildraggers or skis.

No, it does not fit.

Does not fit. The Robotow is not built for taildraggers: it drives the nose tire, and a tailwheel airplane has no nose tire to drive. It does not move airplanes on skis either. If your airplane has a tricycle-gear conversion, or sits on an Airglas nose wheel on wheels, look it up on the fit list.

Why

The Robotow moves an airplane by turning its nose tire with a drive drum, held to the nose gear by an adapter. A tailwheel airplane has no nose tire for it to turn, and the Robotow is not designed to move tail-dragging aircraft. Skis are a second, separate no: the Robotow does not move airplanes on skis.

Converted airplanes

An airplane on an Airglas nose wheel, on wheels, is a different answer. It fits with the Pro frame, confirm with us: check the Airglas nose wheel in the fit finder.

Is your airplane converted to tricycle gear some other way? Send two photos of the nose gear, one straight on from the front and one from the side at axle height.

What to do instead

Tailwheel owners keep moving the airplane by the tail, with a tail dolly or a tow bar made for the tailwheel.

If you also fly a tricycle-gear airplane, look it up on the fit list. Owners we fit include Cessna 172, 182 and 206, Piper Cherokee and Bonanza and Baron.

Questions pilots ask

Does the Robotow fit a Super Cub, Citabria or Cessna 180?

No. Like every tailwheel airplane, they have no nose tire for the drum to turn. If yours has been converted to an Airglas nose wheel, on wheels, it fits with the Pro frame, confirm with us.

Why is there no tailwheel adapter?

The Robotow is designed around the nose tire, and it is not designed to move tail-dragging aircraft.
