For Robotow owners

You own a Robotow. Here is what changed.

There is a new one. It is called the Robotow 2.0. This page tells you what is different, whether your adapter carries over, and what we can still do for the one in your hangar.

What changed

What is different on the 2.0

  1. The motor.

    A high-torque, brushless 18 volt motor.

  2. The battery.

    The 2.0 runs on Milwaukee M18 packs: 5Ah, 8Ah or 12Ah.

  3. The light.

A light comes on at the adapter, so you can see the hookup in a dark hangar.

  4. The weight, and a frame that folds.

23.5 lb without the battery. The Pro frame is 27.25 lb without the battery, and it folds to 35.75 inches, with a carry handle. Every airplane that fits the standard 2.0 also fits the Pro.

  5. What did not change.

A knurled steel drum still drives your nose tire. The adapter fork is the same size. And the phone number has not changed.

There were probably 14 leading up to it. We call it 2.0 because it is the second iteration of this century.

Your adapter

Already own a Robotow? Your adapter fits the same frame style on the 2.0.

The fork did not change, so it carries over like for like:

  • An adapter from a straight-handle Robotow fits the 2.0 standard frame.
  • An adapter from a Pro-style Robotow fits the 2.0 Pro frame.
  • An adapter from a short-frame Robotow fits the 2.0 SF frame.

It does not carry across frame styles. Not sure what you have? Send us a photo and we will tell you straight.

Changed airplanes since you bought it? If the airplane changed and the Robotow did not, a new adapter may be all you need.

Register your unit

Tell us what you have, so we know when you call.

Register yours, any model, any age, wherever you bought it. It takes about a minute. When you call for a part, we will already know what is in your hangar.

Registering is optional: your warranty does not depend on it.

We use what you send only to look after your Robotow and answer your calls. Privacy policy.

Parts and repairs

Send us a photo first.

The honest version: there have been many models since 1962, and parts get harder to find the further back you go. Send us a photo of your unit and tell us what is wrong. Sometimes we have the part. Sometimes the answer is to send it to Lima and we repair it.

28VL and 24SL units can still be repaired while supplies last, and we can often find refurbished components, though we can't say for how long.

From owners of earlier Robotows

What owners of earlier Robotows say

Owners of the models before the 2.0 have written about theirs on the pilot forums for years. What comes up most: it takes the push out of the incline and the hangar lip, the hookup takes a few tries to learn, it can slip on a wet or icy ramp, and the factory in Lima still repairs the old ones.

Read what they wrote on Pilots of America and MooneySpace.
