Powered tow bar for the Mooney M20

The short-frame powered tow bar for your Mooney

  • Mooney: Mooney Adapter 6405, SF frame.

Fits with the SF frame, confirm with us. The Mooney takes the Mooney adapter (6405) on the Robotow 2.0 SF, the short frame, and the Mooney requires it: the standard and Pro frames do not fit. The M20 models on our fit list share this one adapter. The drum drives the nose tire while you walk at the nose wheel and steer.

How it works

Three steps at the nose wheel

  1. Hook up.

The Mooney Adapter (part 6405) fits into the Robotow forks and connects to your nose gear.

  2. Squeeze and lean.

Pull the trigger slowly while you keep firm down pressure on the nose wheel. The drum grips the tire, and the airplane moves at a walking pace.

  3. Steer.

Turn the handle and the nose wheel turns with it. Follow your airplane's limits for nose gear steering.

In the box

What comes in the kit

  • The Robotow 2.0 unit with its high-torque, brushless 18 volt motor.
  • A Milwaukee M18 battery and the charger.
  • The Mooney Adapter, part 6405.
  • The instructions, and the Allen wrench for the adapter connections.

Already have a manual tow bar?

Keep it. The Robotow does the pushing for the ground work you do alone, and you steer at the nose wheel; your manual bar still works for anything the Robotow is not built for.

The fit list

The Mooney M20 family, airplane by airplane

Not on the list? That is not a no. Send two photos of your nose gear and we will tell you straight. See every airplane we have checked.

More airplanes we fit

What it does, and where it stops. Robotow drives your nose tire with a knurled steel drum while you walk at the nose wheel and steer. On ice or packed snow the drum can slip or ice over. With a wheel pant on the nose wheel, it does not fit until the pant comes off. We don't publish a slope or weight limit: ramps, lips and airplanes vary too much for one number. Tell us yours and we'll tell you straight.

Not sure which airplane in the family you have, or whether your nose gear matches? Two photos and a phone call settle it.
