Robotow 2.0
Robotow 2.0 specifications
The Robotow 2.0 is a battery powered tow bar, what some call an electric towbar, for moving an airplane on the ground by one person. It has a high-torque, brushless 18 volt motor built into the unit and runs on Milwaukee M18 packs. The standard frame weighs 23.5 lb and the folding Pro frame 27.25 lb, without the battery. An adapter matches it to your family of nose gear.

How far does one battery go?
In one Aircraft Dynamics test, a Cessna 172N went about 2,000 feet on one 5Ah battery on a flat taxiway, in Roanoke, Texas, in May 2026. That is one test on one airplane, not a rating. We have not published an 8Ah or 12Ah figure.
What has it moved?
These dated tests. We don't publish a slope or weight limit: ramps, lips and airplanes vary too much for one number. Tell us yours and we'll tell you straight.
| Airplane | What it did, where and when |
|---|---|
| Beechcraft Baron | At full fuel, up a twisting grade of about 5 percent, on a 94 degree day. Standard 2.0 frame.Aircraft Dynamics test, Marble Falls, Texas, April 2026 |
| Cessna 172N | About 2,000 feet on one 5Ah battery, flat taxiway, one test.Aircraft Dynamics test, Roanoke, Texas, May 2026 |

What are the three frames?
Standard, Pro and SF. Every airplane that fits the standard 2.0 also fits the Pro. The short frame is the particular one.
| Frame | Handle, and who it is for |
|---|---|
| Robotow 2.0 (standard) 6500 | Straight T-handle. For most airplanes on the fit list. |
| Robotow 2.0 Pro 6600 | Folding, adjustable handle with a carry handle; folds to 35.75 inches. For any airplane the standard fits, plus the Pro-only adapters: Commander, Navion, TBM, Vision Jet, Lancair and Airglas. |
| Robotow 2.0 SF 6700 | The Pro handle on a shorter frame. For the short-frame airplanes: Mooney, Beech Sierra and Sundowner, and Glasair. |
What is an example kit part number?
Part number 6505-6203 is the Robotow 2.0 kit (standard frame), with the Cessna 1 adapter and the standard 5Ah battery, $2,669. The fit finder and the buy box build the part number and price for your airplane; this is one example, not a full list.
| Part number | What's included |
|---|---|
| 6505-6203 | Robotow 2.0 (standard frame), Cessna 1 adapter, Milwaukee M18 5Ah battery and charger. $2,669.Aircraft Dynamics / Shopify catalog, verified October 2026 |
What else is on it?
A knurled black-oxide drive drum on the nose tire, a T-handle with a variable trigger, and a hookup light that lights the adapter. You walk at the nose wheel with both hands on the handle, and you steer the nose wheel yourself.
Which airplanes does it fit?
The fit list names every airplane we have checked, by maker and model, with the adapter each one takes: one adapter for each family of nose gear.
It does not fit: any airplane with a pant or fairing on the nose wheel (the drum has to touch the tire), the Cirrus SR20, SR22 and SR22T, the Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, the Piper Arrow, the Piper Seneca, the Piper Malibu, Mirage, Meridian and M-Class, the Aerostar, taildraggers, and airplanes on skis. The Cirrus Vision Jet SF50 fits.
Where does it stop?
On ice or packed snow the drum can slip or ice over. It does not move skis or taildraggers. With a pant or fairing on the nose wheel, it does not fit. If the nose pant comes off, it may fit: send two photos and we will tell you.
What does it cost?
At robotow.com: $2,669 for the standard kit and $2,869 for Pro and premium-adapter kits. Adapters on their own are $169 or $274.
What is the warranty?
A one-year limited warranty on the Robotow unit, for the first owner, whether you bought it from us, from Sporty's or from Aircraft Spruce. If something fails, we pay the shipping both ways and the turnaround is about two business weeks. Batteries and chargers are Milwaukee parts and are not covered. The warranty page has the full terms.

Who makes it?
Robotow is made by Aircraft Dynamics Corporation of Lima, Ohio. The 2.0 is designed, fabricated, assembled and tested in Lima, Ohio. We bend and weld the steel in our own shop, and every unit runs on our resistance test stand before it ships: forward and reverse at maximum power, against a nose tire. The Robotow entered commerce in 1962; the date is on the federal ROBOTOW trademark record, and ROBOTOW is a registered trademark of Aircraft Dynamics Corporation. The company is family owned, now in its third generation.
What about earlier models?
The 2.0 replaces the 28VL and the 24SL. Their packs and chargers do not carry over. Adapters carry over by frame style: straight handle to the standard frame, Pro to Pro, short frame to short frame, never across frame styles.
